BOZEMAN — A Bozeman man contacted law enforcement officials and turned himself in on Monday morning, claiming he had raped an 8-year-old girl.
Raymond Reid, 20, was seen in Gallatin County Justice Court on Tuesday, April 21, for felony sexual intercourse without consent. His bail was set at $75,000 and he could face up to 100 years or life in prison with up to $50,000 in fines.
According to court documents, a Gallatin County Sheriff deputy contacted Reid after learning about a callback regarding a sexual crime. In the call, Reid reportedly stated that he had molested a girl the previous night and wanted to turn himself in.
After he was read his Miranda advisement, Reid told the deputy he had been sexually touching the girl for approximately 4 months. The victim was interviewed and reportedly stated Reid had sexually abused her.
Prosecutors had argued for a bail of $150,000, but Judge Adams went with the defense’s recommendation with the order that Reid will have to “pay for and beyond” his GPS monitoring.
His next court appearance is set for May 8.
Reid was also ordered no contact with the victim, witnesses or family and he can't come within 1,500 feet of their home or any other building that the aforementioned might be inside.
