GALLATIN COUNTY — With Spring Break scheduled for next week, the decision to cancel or resume classes is on many people's minds in the Gallatin Valley.
"The situation with the coronavirus, or COVID-19, is very rapidly changing. New information is coming out, hour by hour and sometimes minute by minute," explained Dylan Klapmeier, the Director of Communication with the Office of Public Information (OPI).
With things constantly changing, OPI wanted to make sure everyone is on the same page.
"We, the OPI, held a conference call this morning and invited all of the district superintendents across Montana to participate. We gave them an update with the information that we have at this point as it pertains to school," Klapmeier said.
In that call, school superintendents discussed plans on what to do if schools decided to close, but as of now, there are no school closures in place.
"Our decision today is going to be made on the factual information we have today. It may change Monday, and that s why we need to be flexible. We need to be nimble in our responses," explained Bozeman Schools Superintendent Bob Connors.
And to reiterate, there are currently no school closures, but that could change.
"Everything's still on the table," Connors said.
Parents are being encouraged to check their kids' school webpage, their school's social media accounts, emails and any other notification systems put in place.
