BOZEMAN — In November of 2018, voters approved the Bozeman Public Safety Center with more than 60% support.

Now construction begins on the site on Rouse, between Oak and Tamarack, after months of excavation for the footing and foundation.

The City of Bozeman says the project remains on budget and they continue to look for ways to recycle materials and save money.

“We were able to crush and reuse 7,000 tons of asphalt and 3,000 tons of concrete,” said Chuck Winn, assistant city manager for the City of Bozeman.

“So the base of the building and the base of the parking lot is mostly reused material from the site before.”

According to the city, there have been a few updates to the final plan in response to upping the safety during COVID-19.

Some examples of planned changes include touchless light fixtures into the building as well as adding an ultraviolet filtering system to keep air clean.
