BOZEMAN — Can music be used as a therapeutic tool? One Bozeman-area composer thinks so and he’s put together a CD to test out his theory.

MTN’s Chet Layman sat down and talked with Neil Beddow about his CD he calls, “Under the Umbrella”. Beddow says each song speaks to a different issue many of us deal with at some point in our lives. Beddow says whether its fighting drugs and alcohol addiction or battling depression there is a song Under the Umbrella that might help.

Beddow says he’s been working on this idea off and on for the better part of 5 years. He also asked for help from folks who work as counselors or have fought their own battles against some of these problems. He hopes that if even one of the songs helps someone out, then the CD will be a success. He’d also like to see counselors use a specific song as a therapy session at times. Sometimes a song can say more than words alone. You can find out more about Under The Rainbow by going to his Facebook page.
