BOZEMAN — Big news coming from a local nonprofit organization here in Gallatin County.

HRDCannounced the opening of their brand new emergency shelter on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.

The shelter is tentatively scheduled to open Tuesday, December 8th and is located at 2015 Wheat Drive for anyone who needs emergency shelter.

Currently, HRDC has had to house people in need in hotels. They now will be able to use the shelter primarily.

“Really, the reason why the warming center started in the first place is we had a homeless gentleman freeze to death in a Uhaul as he was trying to find some shelter, and the Bozeman community basically said look this is not the kind of community we are. We don’t want this to happen again,” explained David Kack, with the HRDC.

HRDC will be able to house 60 guests at the new emergency shelter and still follow CDC guidelines.
