BOZEMAN — This Valentine's season you can express your affection to your sweetie with a song.
Intermountain Opera Bozeman announced its inaugural Singing Telegrams program taking place Saturday, February 6 through Valentine’s Day on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Residents of Montana, the United States, and the World can hire an Intermountain Opera singer to perform their favorite love-themed opera aria or musical theater song to their special someone. To ensure the safety of both the singers and the recipients during the COVID pandemic, all performances will take place over the phone or an online video platform like Zoom, Facetime, or Google Duo.
“This is exactly what Intermountain Opera Bozeman’s 2020-2021 season is all about,” says Interim Artistic Director Michael Sakir. “Since audiences can’t experience the joy and beauty of live singing in the opera house, we are bringing it directly into their homes.”
Telegram performers include six regional Montana singers from Bozeman and surrounding areas, as well as nine Mainstage Guest Artists with international performance careers who have recently appeared in leading roles with Intermountain Opera Bozeman. "Each singer offers their own unique collection of love songs.,” says Sakir. “Everything from the balcony serenade from Mozart’s Don Giovanni to Prince Charming from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella to love songs by Montana-based composers Eric Funk and Richard Pearson Thomas."
Singing Telegrams start at $50 for a personalized performance over the phone. Online video telegrams are offered by Montana artists ($100) and Mainstage Guest Artists ($250).
