BOZEMAN — Montana State University opened a new diagnostic covid testing site for all MSU students who are showing symptoms.

The new site is located near the football stadium and available to symptomatic students without an appointment or referral.

The testing is free and in addition to testing already available to students through the university’s health partners on campus.

With the additional testing, officials at MSU say they’re being realistic about results and in the case of a large number positive results, they are ready to make whatever changes will be necessary.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, our faculty members is plan into their courses this fall the flexibility to adapt. We have to consider a lot of other factors too. So, there’s no threshold number. There’s no one point that we can say this is going to happen,”said Mike Becker, the university's spokesperson.

Students could receive their results in 24 hours.

Funding for the additional testing was made possible through the CARES Act. Students were not financially affected.
