The organizers of Sunday’s George Floyd protest in downtown Billings, Ken and Amber Palmer, said Monday that they were pleased with the turnout and excited for future events.

Amber Palmer says they knew there would be a crowd but not more than 1,300 people.

“It was absolutely incredible to see the dedication and commitment from our community, (to) come out and show so much support for the cause and us,” says Amber.

Both organizers said they were happy the protest remained peaceful and safe.

“There was absolutely no violence, no arrest, no reason for the cops to get involved in a negative way. Everything was positive and everyone was there to hear the message,” said Ken Palmer.

Palmer says he hopes police in Billings and around the country can use the protest to educate themselves and enact change within police departments.

In the future, the organizers plan to host workshops, classes, and a retreat as they expand their reach to help people suffering with mental illness as well.
