BOZEMAN — Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, with someone developing the disease every 65 seconds.
Those statistics are from the Alzheimer’s Association, which is organizing The Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday. The walk begins at the Bozeman Pond with registration at 1pm.
Valeria Jahner is organizing this year’s walk and says it is not only a great way to meet with others dealing with this disease but also a chance to get valuable information about Alzheimer’s.
According to Jahner, more than 16 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with the disease, totaling 18.5 billion hours of care. She notes that Alzheimer’s kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
