HUNTLEY- Women have always played an important role on America’s farms and ranches. And a new online survey wants to learn more about the women who are involved in American agriculture.
The American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program has launched “Women in Ag,” an online survey that aims to gauge the goals, aspirations, achievements and needs of women in American agriculture.
Gretchen Schubert is the Montana Farm Bureau’s Women’s Leadership Committee Chair from Huntley and hopes as many women involved with Agriculture in Montana will participate.
“We would like to encourage and to find out leadership skills and maybe your ability or if you’re thinking about politics and other things on how you can join in on your community,” said Schubert. “We hope we can get some answers from this survey.”
She says women today play a much bigger role on agricultural operations not just here in Montana but across the nation.
“It used to be that maybe we just sat behind and paid the bills but now we’re out there advocating for farming and ranching,” said Schubert. “We also have more leadership roles and we’re just talking about it and speaking to more people about the importance of American agriculture.”
Farm Bureau says the data collected will be used to gauge trends related to the achievements of women in agriculture. If you would like to participate in the survey, visit www.fb.org/women by June 21. Results will be published this fall.
To show appreciation, participants will be entered to receive one of five $100 gift cards after the survey closes.
