For 30 years, the NILE has awarded scholarships to deserving FFA and 4-H students across the nation. And this year, the NILE Foundation is expected to award over $35,000 in scholarships to youth in Agriculture.
NILE general manager Jennifer Boka says despite the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, the NILE Foundation's Scholarship Program remains strong here in 2021.
“This year, we're right at a million dollars given to kids between our cash scholarships and our live animal scholarship program,” said Boka. “We have a phenomenal scholarship program at the NILE. We're excited for this time of year as we're in the middle of our scholarship application process. They opened right at the beginning of the year and they run until March 1 and we give roughly $35,000 a year in cash scholarships.”
She says few things are as essential to survival as production agriculture. Therefore, we must continue to create and support AGvocates.
“We're committed to continuing our scholarship program this year amid these strange times,” said Boka. “And we want to continue to create AGvocates and continue to create opportunities for kids to either speak on our behalf or work in the industry that we all love so much.”
Scholarship applications and guidelines can be found online at www.thenile.org, or by contacting the NILE office in Billings, Mont. at 406-256-2495. Applications must be submitted to the NILE Office by March 2 by 4 p.m (postmarked March 2 will not be accepted). Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
Each year the NILE touches the lives of nearly 10,000 youth and provides over $55,000 in cash and live animal scholarships.
