Small plane lands safely in Butte after reporting landing gear problems

UPDATE: 4/18/19, 12:05 p.m. – The pilot and passenger, both from Butte, were unharmed after making an emergency landing at the Bert Mooney Airport this morning. The flight originated out of Butte when the pilot reported that the left landing gear failed to lock into place. The pilot circled the airport for about a half hour to burn off all the plane’s fuel, before safely landing on the south end of the runway.

BUTTE, Mont. – Butte-Silver Bow emergency services responded to Bert Mooney Airport Thursday morning after a report was received of an aircraft in trouble.

According to officials, the small craft experienced hydraulic issues with its landing gear. The aircraft with two people on board landed safely. No fire or injuries occurred. Minor damage was reported to the plane.
