The weather from Hurricane Barry won’t affect us — but it might affect your wallet.

Because Barry is disrupting oil companies in the gulf, prices rose to $60 a barrel. Many workers have been evacuated from the rigs off the coast of Texas in Louisiana. If the storm disrupts oil operations for a long period of time, we’ll likely see a rise in prices at the pump, but it won’t be in the short term.

“Typically you won’t see crude oil prices increase. That increase won’t affect the price at the pump for about 6 weeks.” AAA Spokesperson Sergio Avila said.

Montana average prices have been trending slightly lower while the national average has gone up by ten cents in the last week.
