Despite lengthy firefighting efforts, the former Missoula restaurant building was deemed a total loss after the roof collapsed. Firefighters worked for over an hour to control the flames and prevent further spread.
Crews remained on scene until 3:00 p.m., using heavy equipment to sift through debris and ensure there were no remaining hot spots.
A joint investigation between the Missoula Fire Department and the City of Missoula Police Department is underway. We'll have more details after the investigation concludes.

A fire at a former Missoula restaurant is under investigation after firefighters battled the flames there for several hours on Wednesday morning.
Crews responded to what used to be HuHot along Brooks Street at approximately 5:30 a.m.
All Missoula Fire Department engines responded, including a ladder truck.
The response meant extra firefighters were called in to cover other calls.

Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
HuHot shut down in October of 2023 and the building has remained vacant ever since.

The Missoula Fire Department is still at the scene of a fire that broke out at the former HuHot restaurant of Brooks Street.
Crews were called out for a report of a structure fire shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
There's no word yet on what sparked the blaze.
MFD reports that two fire inspectors have been assigned to investigate.

Firefighters are battling a Wednesday morning at the former HuHot restaurant on Brooks Street in Missoula.
Numerous fire engines are on the scene and smoke has been seen billowing from the area.

HuHot Mongolian Grill closed its doors in late October of 2023 and the building has been for sale since that time.
