BOZEMAN — The MSU Women’s Basketball team has been busy in the opening months of the season. How does games in 5 states and two countries sound?
The Cats are currently 6-5, but four of those losses are against teams in the top 25 in the country, with most by just single digits.
Assistant Coach Julian Assibey says that schedule sounds challenging, and it is by design.
Assibey tells Montana This Morning’s Chet Layman that the plan was to play high caliber teams to get ready for high caliber play in the Big Sky. It seems to be paying off. The Bobcats are 2-0 in conference play with road wins in Sacramento and at Northern Arizona.
Coach Assibey also says while the road swing was challenging, it was also exciting being able to play in Puerto Rico. He credits much of that success to the returning players. Assibey says those players are helping the newer players learn the game plan, and even better execute it.
You can catch that game plan in action as the Cats return home this weekend. Thursday they host Northern Colorado at 7pm, then on Saturday catch an afternoon match up with Southern Utah with a tip off scheduled for 2pm.
