Wildlife officials: Young grizzlies spotted in western Montana likely orphaned by poachers

ST. IGNATIUS – Wildlife officials in the Mission Valley report there have been sightings of two young grizzly bears in the valley this past week.

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai wildlife managers say this is very early for grizzlies to be out of their den, and believe these cubs are from a mother who was illegally shot and killed last fall.

CSKT Wildlife Management Program posted on their Facebook page Thursday that this is a very unusual situation and they believe is a continuation of a sad story from last summer.
