RED LODGE – The Montana side of the Beartooth Highway will open Friday at 8 a.m., according to a press release from the Montana Department of Transportation. It will be open to the Vista Point rest area.
The highway will open to the state line Saturday morning.
Recent weather has delayed opening to the state line as crews continue clearing about three feet of snow, and additional snow and heavy winds are expected Thursday night.
Since April, state maintenance crews have been clearing snow from the road and preparing to meet the traditional opening of the highway for Memorial weekend.
Video and photos of the clearing are available by clicking here.
