Sperry Chalet reservations open Monday

Monday will be a "red letter" day for fans of the Sperry Chalet, as reservations open for the first season since the Glacier National Park Landmark was destroyed by fire.

The historic chalet, which can only be reached by trail, was mostly destroyed in the Sprague Fire, which hit the west side of the park in late summer of 2017.

That led to two years of fundraising and extensive reconstruction, which had to work around the short alpine season.

Beginning Monday at 8 a.m. Mountain Time, people can begin making reservations to stay at Sperry, beginning when the season opens on July 18.

The reservation form isn't being made in advance, and there aren't any phone reservations. However, people will be able to list two alternate dates.

All requests will be first come, first served, with rates at $237 per person, and $159 for each additional person in the same room.

If you don't get a reservation on Monday, you can keep checking back for cancellations through the spring.
