The Gallatin Valley Food Bank will be distributing free food boxes to anyone who would like one this Tuesday in Bozeman and Thursday in Belgrade.
The 25-pound Farmers Feed Families USDA food boxes are provided through CARES Act funding, according to an HRDC press release.
The release said the program "is intended to help farmers sell products that, due to COVID-19, weren’t being purchased by the intended buyers, and to get the food to those most in need."
The food bank will hand out boxes of fresh produce on Tuesday at the Gallatin Valley Mall, from 9-10 a.m.
On Thursday, food boxes will be distributed from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 203 Jackrabbit Lane, Belgrade, MT 59714.
“We are attempting to reach those who may struggle with transportation or the current hours of distribution,” said Jill Holder, Food and Nutrition Director for HRDC. “Outreach continues to be an important part of responding to the need in our community.”
The food bank will host a third food box giveaway on Thursday, Sep. 3, at Peace Lutheran Church from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
