This summer, Museum of the Rockies is set to celebrate the 17th anniversary of its highly-acclaimed Wine and Culinary Classic benefit event. Patrons and guests will converge on Museum grounds for this once-a-year opportunity to sample the finest flavors of Bozeman and sip wines from around the world, all while supporting Montana’s premier institution. This casual-elegant event is one of the largest under-one-tent gatherings in Montana and has earned a reputation for attracting everyone from the most discerning aficionados to those who simply relish the opportunity to appreciate savory bites and learn about fine wine.

Each W&CC is unique and those who’ve attended for years look forward to a fresh experience and the discovery of new flavors and aromas. This year’s theme, Wine for the Seasons, embraces the idea that the earth’s rotation and seasonal flow affect our food choices and wine lists. With one hundred varieties of wines and a bounty of food from twenty local caterers, there will be plenty to suit every palate. The venue is designed to allow for guests to flow through the seasons, tasting the fresh flavors of spring, savoring the intensity of long summer days, experiencing the hearty impressions of fall and settling into the comfort food and wine of winter.

Master Sommelier and featured vintner, Bobby Stuckey, will be this year’s special guest and will share his vast knowledge with attendees. Mr. Stuckey’s distinguished career began as he worked his way through the ranks and ultimately established himself as a leader in the hospitality industry. He has earned some of the highest accolades in his field, including the prestigious award for Outstanding Wine Service. He is the proprietor of Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, Colorado, and his own wine label, Scarpettai Wine, will be featured at the event.

Adding excitement to this incomparable outing are the silent , premier silent, and live auctions, during which guests will enjoy lively competition for one-of-a-kind and once-in-a-lifetime offerings, including the chance to go on a dinosaur dig with the MOR paleontology team, exciting travel experiences, and even a signed etching by Pablo Picasso. The etching, Blind Minotaur Guided by Little Girl with Flowers, is the last (#380) from the a canceled plate which now resides in the Picasso Museum in Paris. This remarkable piece is certified and generously donated by Galerie Michael, ensuring that one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Museum of the Rockies. As the event draws closer, the full array of auction items will be unveiled, from which almost everyone will find something too good to pass up. Attendees will also get a chance to support the Museum’s Changing Exhibits Fund by raising their hands in the Pay It Forward Auction.

The Annual Wine and Culinary Classic is more than an enchanting evening spent in a richly beautiful and stylish setting. It is also a key source of funding for the world-class museum that calls our community home. As an important supplement to memberships, contributions, admission fees and store revenue, the W&CC raises an impressive percentage of funds vital to sustaining MOR’s phenomenal traveling exhibits, permanent displays rich in regional history, unparalleled dinosaur complex, planetarium features, and countless community and educational offerings. It is the mission of Museum of the Rockies “to bring the world to Montana and share Montana with the world.” Through the generosity of local supporters and patrons from across the country, one delightful July evening filled with mouth-watering morsels, ambrosial sips, and enthusiastic bidding makes that possible.

The Honorary Chair of this distinguished event is Iris M.-L. Model. Model is a strong believer in supporting the community she lives in. She is a friend of numerous organizations in Montana, but it is the Museum of the Rockies where she has devoted significant passion and energy. She served on the Board of Trustees for eight years, two years as President, and presently serves on the National Advisory Board.

This highly-anticipated event tends to sells out early, so you’ll want to reserve your seat at the table as soon as possible. It promises to be a perfect opportunity to experience all of the seasons under the big sky through an irresistible bouquet of wines and delectable flavors from Bozeman’s top chefs and caterers. “The only thing better than a summer evening with friends, fine wine and delicious food is knowing that your presence is making a difference,” says Kathryn Hohmann, Director of Philanthropy. Join your friends, neighbors, and fellow food and wine enthusiasts, along with Pablo Picasso, in supporting Museum of the Rockies Saturday, July 14thfrom 6:00pm – 10:30pm.
