Scary forecast for Wednesday Bozeman

BOZEMAN, Mont – A long fetch of moisture will roll over the pacific NW and into the Northern Rockies Wednesday through Monday.

Watch for possible wintry travel impacts over most mountain passes in Montana Wednesday night into Thursday morning as snow levels could drop down to 5,500′. Accumulations should be around 2″-4″ for most mountain passes but much higher above pass level.

Hunters should be prepared for wet snow, wind and colder temperatures beginning Wednesday evening through the weekend.

Plan on increasing rain or snow to impact your Halloween fun Wednesday afternoon and evening. Scattered off and on rain or snow is likely for most of SW Montana. It will not be raining or snowing all the time but rather off and on bursts of wet weather. Plan on cool and windy conditions as well.

City by City Forecast:

BOZEMAN: LOW: 27°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 43°. Partly cloudy and colder tonight. Increasing clouds Wednesday will produce scattered valley rain and higher mountain snow by afternoon and evening. Surface winds will be increasing to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph at times by Wednesday afternoon. Snow levels to lower to 5,500′ Wednesday night with accumulating snow likely for Bozeman pass by Thursday morning.

BUTTE: LOW: 23°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 44°. Clearing and colder tonight with a hard freeze by morning. Increasing clouds by late morning will produce increasing rain or snow by afternoon and evening. SW winds will increase as well 10 to 20 mph sustained and gusting at times to 30 mph by Wednesday afternoon and evening. Snow is likely above 5,000′ Wednesday evening and be prepared for snow covered and icy roads over Homestake pass and Elk Park pass Thursday morning.

DILLON: LOW: 22°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 42°. Partly cloudy tonight for Dillon with a slight chance for a stray mountain snow shower. Wednesday look for increasing clouds and increasing valley rain and mountain snow by afternoon and evening. Snow levels to lower down to 6,500′ Wednesday night. SW winds to 15 mph and at times gusting to 30 mph Wednesday afternoon and evening.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 16°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 35°. Colder tonight for West Yellowstone under clearing skies. Clouds will build over you Wednesday afternoon with scattered mostly snow likely by early evening. Snow accumulations around 2″ or more is possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
