Travel concerns for Wednesday afternoon and evening Bozeman

BOZEMAN Mont: A cold and snowy pattern just will not end across Montana. Look for several off and on waves of snow to impact travel heading into tonight.

Travel impacts are likely for most of Montana through midnight tonight.

Forecast models are starting to show a dry but colder weather pattern developing overnight and continuing into Friday.

Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory through 11 pm tonight across most of SW and central Montana.

Travel impacts are likely for your evening commute both in town and over area mountain passes with 1″ – 3″ of additional snowfall for lower elevations and possibly over 3″ over mountain passes.

Wet roads will become icy and at times the snow bands moving through will greatly reduce visibility.

Allow for extra travel time and be prepared for snow covered and icy roads and low visibility with falling snow through midnight.

City by City Forecast:

BOZEMAN: LOW: 15°; HIGH THURSDAY: 34°. Scattered snow likely Wednesday afternoon and evening. Look for off and on snow bands to impact your evening commute tonight. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 3″ is possible for Bozeman and Bozeman Pass. Most of the snow will diminish by midnight. Clearing skies overnight could lead to patchy valley fog Thursday morning and mostly sunny Thursday afternoon but colder temperatures are likely through Friday.

BUTTE: LOW: 13°; HIGH THURSDAY: 34°. Scattered snow bands will continue to impact Butte with low visibility and wet roadways icing up for the rest of this afternoon and early evening. 1″ – 3″ of snow is possible through midnight. Overnight clearing and colder with patchy fog early Thursday morning. Mostly sunny and chilly Thursday afternoon.

DILLON: LOW: 13°; HIGH THURSDAY: 35°. Mostly cloudy with a slight chance for a few scattered snow showers through early evening for Dillon. Light accumulations are possible and wet roads could become icy. Clearing overnight and colder.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 7°; HIGH THURSDAY: 30°. Scattered snow is possible for West Yellowstone heading into this afternoon and evening as a cold front passes through the region. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 3″ is possible and could impact travel with wet and icy roadways. Snow should be ending by Thursday morning with clearing skies and much colder lows and highs for Thursday.
