CURRENT SNOWPACK IN MONTANA:
We are currently dealing with a weak El Nino pattern which will typically keep Montana warmer than average and drier than average through the winter months.  The positive side of this is that weak an El Nino will still allow for some of the stronger winter storms to bring snow to the region and allow snowpack to build in the mountains.  As of this week, Montana’s snowpack is slightly below or near average in all the basins in western Montana.  The current weather pattern over the course of the next 7-10 days is a rather stable, dry, and warm pattern which will allow the snowpack to dwindle over the course of the next couple of weeks.
