BOZEMAN – The weather pattern is changing back to a typical wintry scenario with numerous pacific storms hitting the western U.S. including Montana Thursday through Tuesday of next week. Some storms are weak and disorganized while others could be stronger and produce bigger travel impacts.

The first in a series of storms will hit the western U.S. tonight through Friday. This storm system should be on the weaker and more disorganized side which means scattered off and on periods of snow and wind are likely across SW Montana. Best chance for snow accumulations with this first storm will be along the MT/ID/WY state lines.

Next system will arrive Sunday into Monday. This storm could have a bigger impact across Montana with warm air advection ahead of the storm Sunday producing temperatures above freezing. This could lead to rain or snow to mix and a slight chance for pockets of freezing rain Sunday.

Steadier snowfall is likely for all levels Sunday evening into Monday morning and will likely impact your Monday morning commute.
