BOZEMAN – Mild temperatures continued today with most of SW Montana reaching the low to mid 50s and that is very close to normal. This pattern is likely again Friday.

The WSW flow aloft is also paving the way for Pacific moisture to push through the region producing off and on showers, isolated late day thunderstorms and higher mountain snow.

A series of Pacific storms will pass through Montana this weekend into next week and with each passing cold front temperatures will be dropping below average again but this is beneficial to the region. Why? March was a terrible month for mountain snow and our snowpack is suffering at the moment. NRCS monthly report today shows most of Northern Montana with below normal water content in the snowpack and near normal across Southern basins. So we need a wet and cool April to make up some of those deficits to avoid a lack of water this summer.
