BOZEMAN – Deep trough of Low pressure continues to drift eastward with unseasonably cold temperatures and areas of rain and snow today. The storm will continue to track eastward overnight and pull farther away from Montana by tomorrow.

A weak Pacific disturbance will drop through Thursday into Friday and continue to produce a few scattered snow showers and colder than normal temperatures through the end of the week.

By the weekend, a slow warm up is likely with a short-lived High-pressure ridge pattern.

The next round of rain or snow will arrive late Sunday and continue into most of next week.

SEVERE WINTER WEATHER

Greatest impacts from the storm system clipping SW Montana will be out across the central and northern plains. A boost of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, colder Canadian air from the North and a strong surface pressure gradient will produce widespread heavy snow, strong winds, and severe travel impacts.

There are numerous WINTER STORM WARNINGS and BLIZZARD WARNINGS stretching from Denver, CO to Minneapolis, MN Thursday into Friday.
