BOZEMAN – Cold and unsettled weather pattern is parked over Montana through at least the end of the week. The next Pacific Low will dive down into an upper-level trough and keep valley rain and mountain snow showers alive through the end of the week.
Snow is likely above 6,000′ tonight and Wednesday and most mountain passes could see minor accumulations of around 1″ – 3″, Homestake Pass, Elk Park Pass and Georgetown Lake areas. Those passes that are a little higher in elevation like MacDonald Pass on US-12 could see 3″ – 5″ of snow over the next 24 hours.
WINTER STORM WARNING
The National Weather Service did issue a WINTER STORM WARNING for the backcountry in the Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness areas tonight through Thursday morning.
Snow accumulations of a foot or more are possible for higher elevations.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for possible travel impacts above 6,000′ for central counties of Montana tonight through late Wednesday evening.
Snow accumulations above 6,000′ of 4″ – 8″ are possible and higher mountain peaks could see a foot or more of new snow.
