BOZEMAN – A broad area of heavy rain impacted the SE counties of Montana Friday, July 5th. According to the National Weather Service office in Billings, MT as much as 4.50″ of rain has fallen, however, one local resident near Powderville, MT (60 miles SE of Miles City) has over 5″ of rain in her rain gauge.

Martha Mintz tells me that Corral Creek is typically bone dry this time of year but the video above shows the creek is out of its banks.

A FLOOD WATCH is up for SE Montana through midnight tonight but there are a few FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS up through 6:45 pm. Areas NE and SW of Broadus, MT are under warnings.

Forecast weather models show this slow-moving system will be exiting SE Montana this evening, however, flooding concerns are likely after the storm moves out. Another round of rain will be moving back into Montana by Sunday and Monday.

Updates on the flooding situation and on the next weather maker are coming up tonight at 5:30 pm and 10 pm on KXLF and KBZK.
