BOZEMAN – The first two weeks of July have been cool and very wet for SW Montana. Many reporting sites in our region have already reached or exceeded normal July total precipitation values.

Ennis in Madison County is topping the list with the highest totals so far for July locally with an impressive 2.53″ of rain. This is above normal through July 17th by 1.81″. Normally for the entire month of July Ennis should see around 1.25″ of rain.

How does this rank?

Most of SW Montana is well under the top 10 wettest July’s on record, however, Ennis is currently ranked as the 6th wettest July on record with two weeks left in the month so they could climb into the top 5.

NEXT WEATHER MAKER:

Thursday into Friday a Pacific cold front will pass through Montana but this should be a mostly dry cold front. So look for two weather impacts.

  1. Stronger surface winds especially along the Rocky Mountain Front and Continental Divide.
  2. Slightly cooler temperatures

There is a very low probability for showers or thunderstorms with this front but if you see storm clouds building Thursday afternoon there could be one or two rumbles in the region.
