Thunderstorms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening

BOZEMAN – SW flow aloft will help thunderstorms to develop over SW Montana Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce damaging wind gusts. Frequent lightning is also a concern for possible new fire starts.

A RED FLAG WARNING is up for a small part of SW Montana mainly between Bozeman and Helena. Conditions are more favorable for possible fire starts with the combination of hot temperatures, lower humidity, gusty winds, and lightning.

Storm Prediction Center continues a “marginal” risk for strong to severe thunderstorms over all of SW Montana Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce property damage.

Thursday the thunderstorm threat is across central and eastern counties of Montana. The Storm Prediction Center has another “marginal” risk for damaging storms.

Starting Friday High-pressure will lock us into a mostly dry and warm pattern through the weekend.
