Western C divisional volleyball: Manhattan Christian and WSS head to semifinal

CHURCHILL—The Western C Divisional volleyball tournament started on Thursday morning at Manhattan Christian High School.

Round one:

Gardiner 3, Drummond 1

In the first game of the day No. 1 Drummond faced off against No. 4 from District 12C Gardiner.

Gardiner jumped out to a two set lead (25-16, 25-23) and stumbled for a loss in the third set (25-22), but rallied back to dominate set four (25-11) to get the upset.

Bruins senior Paige Holland had a team 10 kills. Drummond's Holly Hauptman finished with a game-high 13 kills.

Manhattan Christian 3, Superior 0

The No.1 Eagles rolled over No. 2 Superior for an easy sweep (25-15, 25-12, 25-12).

Senior Kiersten Van Kirk had a game-high 12 kills for Manhattan Christian.

Manhattan Christian heads to the second round to face Gardiner at 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Charlo 3, Ennis 0

Charlo who earned the No.1 seed in 14C took on the Ennis Mustangs who earned a No. 3 seed last weekend in 12C.

Vikings' Kassidi Cox had a game-high 10 kills

The Vikings were in control throughout the whole match and earned a sweep over Ennis (25-21, 25-16, 25-20).

White Sulphur Springs 3, Seeley-Swan 0

White Sulphur Springs only losses in the 12C tournament came at the hand Manhattan Christian. They were in a battle against fellow No. 2 seed Seeley-Swan.

The Hornets came hot out the gate and earned the sweep(25-14, 25-22, 25-18).

ROUND 2

Manhattan Christian 3, Gardiner 0

The Gardiner Bruins already upset Drummond earlier in the day, unfortunately lightning couldn't strike twice. The Eagles swept the Bruins (25-16, 25-19, 25-12).

Kiersten and Katelyn Van Kirk had a game-high 10 kills.

Manhattan Christian is heading to the semifinal game at 7 p.m. on Friday.

White Sulphur Springs 3, Charlo 0

The Hornets came out and dominated from the start of the game to sting the Vikings.

They booked a trip to the semifinal game versus Manhattan Christian with a sweep (25-11, 25-9, 26-24).

Hornets will face Manhattan Christian.
